Bible Reading Resources
Within the pages of Scripture we find the very Word of God--given to us for His glory and our good. Want to hear from the Spirit of God in 2017? Open your Bible.
If you have never read through the entire Bible, I would certainly encourage it. For the 'average' reader it takes only 12 minutes a day to read the Bible, cover-to-cover, in one year. This type of Bible consumption helps the reader grasp the overall redemptive narrative found in Scripture--it also helps in getting through the difficult portions of the text more easily.
Here a few resources for reading the entire Bible in 2017.
- Five Day Bible Reading Program - This Bible reading system allows you to read the entire Bible in one year while only reading five days a week. Five readings a week gives room to catch up or take a needed day off, and makes daily Bible reading practical and do-able. Further, reading the Bible in chronological order (even the Psalms have been placed chronologically when possible) aids understanding of the Bible story, and helps the reader to look forward to reading God's Word. - ESV Chronilogical Reading Plan - For the tech savvy reader, this online program (also available on ESV's free mobile app) is a helpful, chronological plan. You can also create a free login for the website, allowing you to track your progress, makes notes, and access additional study content. (Check it out)
- Knowing Scripture by R.C. Sproul - It is one thing to read the Bible, but what about understanding it? This helpful book is a great introduction into how to study the Bible. Dr. Sproul tackles some of the difficult questions regarding biblical interpretation in a theologically faithful, yet accesible way. (Purchase Here)
