January 18, 2015 - Burning Bush, Exodus 3:1-6

Sermon Outline
Introduction: What was ordinary about today? What wasn’t? Is it fair to say that the Spirit was
much involved with the events of Exodus 3? Why is He not mentioned?

A. The Spirit will take you places you’ve never been.

a. What was “extraordinary” about Moses first 40 years? What would you have felt/thought if you had been him, while watching over the sheep that day?

b. Tell about a time when you ended up someplace where you were not planning on. Was God’s Spirit in it? What feelings/thoughts did you have when you got there?

i. Include issues of: Deprivation/grief, Insecurity/fear, and Heightened stimulation in a spiritual way.

c. In what ways did the experience prepare you for God to show you something?

B. The Spirit will show you things you’ve never known.

a. Describe times when God “moved you” in order for you to see:

i. More of His glory.

ii. More of His purpose.

iii. More of His Person.

b. How (strategically) does the Holy Spirit move us when we have a free will? Have you noticed how the Spirit gets sort of “pushy” sometimes? Talk about it.

c. How does this speak to your present situation and your challenges tomorrow?

d. Who might you share with what you’ve learned?
