Application Questions

1. Reflect on the time and place you first fell in love with the living Christ. What works marked that period of time in your spiritual journey?

2. READ Revelation 2:1 and then read 1:20. Who are the golden lampstands, and who are the stars? With these identifications, how do Jesus’ words in 2:1 bring comfort?

3. What are the Ephesian Christians commended for? (vv. 2-3). How would you rate Living Hope, our church, in this category? 

4. What good deeds does God have for you to do? How can Living Hope emulate the Ephesians’ good work?

5. What is the Ephesians church condemned for? (vv. 4-6). 

6. The meaning of this “love” is debated. Though, it likely refers to their faithful witness to the world. How do 2:1 and 2:5b help us understand the love as faithful witness to the world?

7. There seems to be a threefold prescription here: remember, repent, and return (2:5). How can you apply this to your life?

8. How would you explain what it means to be an “overcomer” in the Christian life?
