Personal Reflection & Small Group Questions

Please complete this study on your own, then bring it to your small group for discussion.

1. Looking back over your notes from this week’s sermon and text, what particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

2. What kind of motivations does Paul give for the church to serve one another with compassion?

3. Verse 3 mentions 'selfish ambition' and 'conceit' (empty glory). In what specific areas of church life are you most tempted to seek your own 'glory' or reputation rather than the good of the Body?

4. How would your church be different if everyone faithfully lived out this passage?

5. Consider the foundation of joy (Encouragement in Christ, Comfort from Love, Fellowship in the Spirit, Affection/Sympathy). If you are feeling 'dry' toward others in the church, which of these four Gospel-realities do you need to preach to your own soul first?

6. How do these passages show us our need for the Savior? How is our Savior an example of this passage?

7. Looking back over this week’s sermon and study, what one thing is most important for you to remember and apply?
