1. What has been your previous experience with the book of Psalms? That is, how important have they been in your Bible reading? Have you gone to them regularly or in specific times? 

2. The psalms represent a diversity of situations by many different authors over many years. Yet, it is appropriate to say they are poems and songs meant to be sung by God’s people. How does recognizing this reality change the way you might read them and apply them to your life? 

3. Summarize Psalm 1 and then Psalm 2 – what are they, each individually, about?

4. Regarding Psalm 1, what is necessary in order to have the blessed life?

5. How does Psalm 2 emphasize the importance of walking like the blessed one in Psalm 1? 

6. How do Psalms 1-2, as an introduction to the entire Psalter, help you to read the rest of the psalms? What can you put into practice as you go forward?
