I.  David’s Panic  vv. 1-3

II. David’s Peace   vv. 4-7

Application Questions

1. When you experience crises, whom or what are you tempted to run to instead of God? Why do we run to anything other than God?

2. Does the Christian life mean faithful believers will not be afraid? Why or why not?

3. READ vv. 4-7. What is the difference between God testing His own (vv. 4c-5a) and His judgment on His enemies (vv. 5b-6)? Meaning, if you did not know whether someone was a believer or not, would it look different? How could we know?

4. “For the LORD is righteous; He loves righteous deeds” (v. 7a-b). If the LORD loves the ones whom take refuge in Him (v. 1a), why does living righteously not guarantee freedom from harm or fear?

5. How does remembering God is “in His holy temple” and on His throne in heaven (v. 4) affect how we respond to fear, harm or temptation?

6. Why does the Lord test His people with trials? What Old Testament or New Testament passages can help you answer this?

7. How does v. 7 summarize the goal of Scripture’s overall story?

8. What counsel of “panic” are you prone to listen to and act on? What do you need to do, personally, instead?
